Minutes Wednesday March 17, 2010 at Betsy Watt’s Garage, 921 Ocean Avenue
The meeting was called to order by president Cathrin Eckle.
President’s report
Cathrin announced that the minutes, treasure’s report for November and the 2009-2010 budget
were on line. Anyone wanting a hard copy please contact Cathrin or Linda.
New officers will be installed at the May 19 meeting. The meeting will be held at the Vet’s Hall
patio. It was M/S/C for the club to provide hamburgers and members to bring side dishes.
Husbands were volunteered to cook.
A sign up sheet was passed for members to sign indicating if they had planted a tree or amount
of trees planted this year.
Letters of “Thank you” from Cayucos school families were read.
The Garden Club dues of $20 are payable to Marilyn Long no later than May 19th meeting.
The membership roster was circulated for review and possible update/corrections.
National Garden Club Week will be June 6-12, 2010 and June 5-11, 2011.
District Leadership Academy Report
Marilyn Rogers and Margaret Bretz reported that Bob Gordon spoke about club functions and
leadership.
History
Betty Hall reported an idea from the pass of members bringing items from their garden to
share.
Triangle Beautification
Betty Hall Reported that the area is looking great. The Nursery will replant the Protea using
sand for good drainage. Monday March 20 from 10-12 will be our next work day.
April Meeting
Our guest at our next meeting will be the “Bee Lady”.
Greenhouse Growers will be having a sale (wholesale prices) on April 17.
Table Setting Fundraiser
Marilyn Rogers reported date of the luncheon will be October 21, 2010
Penny Pines
We are continuing to collect for future tree purchases
Sunshine
Margaret Bretz requested members let her know of any member that may need a special card.
She has sent the March birthday cards.
Old Business
Plant Sale
Cathrin Eckle and Betsy Watts will be chairmen for plant sale. They requested for members to
continue starting plants and to deliver them to Betsy’s on the Friday preceding the May 29th
and 30th plant sale.
Nominating Committee
Betsy Watt’s presented the list of suggested officers for next year. It is President-Margaret
Bretz, Vice-President-Marilyn Rogers, Secretary-Linda Hill, Treasure-Rhonda Hon and Bonnie
Lewis.
Arbor Day
If anyone has a suggestion of a location for planting a tree on Arbor Day please notify Cathrin
Eckle.
District Luncheon
We will be hosting the Montana de’Oro District luncheon on Tuesday, June 22.
The meeting was adjourned followed by “Plant an Egg” activity.
